Lisa Nehring
Lisa is the compass-keeper of True North. A veteran homeschool advocate known for straight-talking, strategic coaching, she has walked countless parents out of the fog of “am I doing this right?” and into a clear plan they can trust. She introduced the innovative SAMR method at True North and leads It’s Not That Hard to Homeschool and Blue Collar Homeschooling, encouraging families across the country. When you need direction for your child’s path, Lisa is the one who helps you find north.
Tamara Pool
Tamara advises and tutors with a rare kind of attentiveness — the sort that notices the quiet student about to give up and won’t let them. She pairs a genuine love of learning with a deep love of Scripture, having edited Your Sabbath Invitation from Biblical Excavations, and both show up in how patiently she helps a student find their footing.
Anna Knaub
Anna helps new and returning families find the right-fit classes and get enrolled without the overwhelm. Because she also teaches literature at True North, she knows the classroom side of every decision — and she’s glad to walk you through it.

Beth Purcell
Beth leads Humanities and teaches the courses that turn nervous writers into confident ones — World Literature, Composition, and BizTalk. IEW-certified with years in the classroom, she is known for live classes that make the machinery of strong writing and speaking finally click. Students leave able to say what they mean, and mean what they say.
Anna Knaub
Anna teaches literature the way it’s meant to be experienced — as an adventure. Whether the class is wrestling with Shakespeare or a dystopian world, she draws students into the deep end of analysis and dares them to think for themselves. Off the clock she gardens, bakes, and crafts, and that maker’s curiosity shows up in every discussion.
Angie Ferrell
With a Master’s in Education and a heart for teaching each student as an individual, Angie makes history and literature feel personal. Her live classes are supportive, engaging, and built around the truth that no two learners are the same.
Adam Pruzan
Adam teaches the disciplines that shape how a young person sees the world — politics, philosophy, and economics — with a rigor students actually enjoy. Natasha Jones
Natasha never planned to homeschool. Twelve-plus years and seven children later, the Southern California native calls it one of her greatest blessings — a calling she embraced after a life-changing encounter with God. Her teaching is eclectic and classically influenced, shaped by real life, including raising a child with learning challenges. She meets students exactly where they are.
STEAM Department
Melissa Grande
Melissa leads STEAM and teaches Science — and she’s the rare science teacher with a music degree, too. In her live classes a chemistry question can detour into why a melody resolves, and students find both the logic and the wonder in the natural world. Parents credit her with transforming how their kids feel about science.
Sunshyne Hummel
Sunshyne came to teaching by way of the field — a background in geology and geochemistry and real work as an environmental consultant. That practical experience grounds her science classes in the actual world, and students catch both her curiosity and her care for the creation they’re studying.
Marcelete Ailor
Thirty years in, a Master’s in Mathematics, and seven children of her own — Marcelete knows math and the students who fear it. From 8th grade through every high school course, she makes it approachable, building confidence right alongside competence, so a student who arrives certain they’re “not a math person” often leaves believing otherwise.
Dr. Kristin Moon
Dr. Moon wrote the curriculum — literally. The creator of Kristin Moon Science teaches Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, and Genetics with an enthusiasm that makes hard concepts feel reachable. Her live classes are where “I could never do chemistry” quietly becomes a lifelong love of science.
Kiersten Shamberger
Meet Coach Shamberger — a storyteller with a camera who teaches Video Editing, Photography, and Computer Science at True North. A devoted film buff (and unapologetic Maple Leafs and Mario Kart fan), she channels boundless creativity into showing students how to shape raw footage into something that moves people. Her class is where technical skill meets real imagination.
BJ Pramann
BJ is a self-taught artist who has curated Christian art galleries and painted live at events — and she teaches Art like an invitation. In her class, creativity isn’t a talent you either have or you don’t; it’s something to be drawn out. Students explore self-expression in a studio encouraging enough to try, and try again.
Language Department
Hannah Nehring
Hannah leads the Language Department out of her own multilingual journey, and she teaches languages as what they truly are — a doorway to freedom and to understanding people unlike yourself. Her classes are interactive and alive.
Anna Owen
Anna teaches Russian live to language-lovers ages 14 to 21, from her home in Kentucky. She starts students with real communication, foundational reading, and a genuine feel for the culture — an exciting, practical first step into a language most of their peers will never attempt.
Rabbi Arthur Fischer
Rabbi Arthur Fischer teaches Modern Hebrew, Biblical Hebrew, and Biblical Feasts and Festivals — live, from his home in Israel. Few classrooms can offer this: a teacher steeped in the land and language of Scripture, opening deep biblical connections that enrich a student’s faith even as they learn to read the words for themselves.
Amy Gobroski
Amy’s love of language began in high school, when friendships with Deaf classmates drew her into ASL — and into years of serving as a church and school interpreter. With a Deaf granddaughter of her own and three decades in the classroom, she teaches sign language as a living bridge between people, rooting every lesson in the how and why behind the words.
Monica Quintanar
Monica teaches high-school Spanish, Levels I through IV, live from Pachuca Hidalgo, Mexico — with the heart of a former missionary who served in Reynosa. Language and culture come alive in her classes, and her students build the kind of real confidence that only comes from learning with someone who lives the language every day.
Rachel Margaillan
Rachel studied literature and music in France and has taught around the world, and she has a gift for making French feel less like a mountain and more like a melody. She tailors each class to her students, delighting in the moment a tricky bit of grammar suddenly makes sense and the language starts to sing.
Dana Hanley
Dana teaches German, and she came to the language the adventurous way — a Congress-Bundestag scholarship sent her to Germany as a high-schooler, followed by degrees in Germanic Languages and Education from the University of Kansas and graduate study in Kiel. A homeschool mom of six, she teaches languages as a doorway to new ways of seeing the world, and her students catch both her precision and her genuine joy in learning.
