Yes. Academic Advising equips parents and students with a personalized plan — including guidance for testing, career, and special needs — and helps with transcripts, grading, and test prep.

True North Academy recommends Academic Advising for all new families, and includes it in all Course Bundles. Our years of experience with thousands of students show that families who use Academic Advising have more confidence in their class choices, and students land in the sweet spot between too easy and overwhelming.

Yes — True North Academy is fully Cognia-accredited with NCA CASI, NWAC, and SACS CASI.

True North Academy uses a Virtual Campus — a learning management system (LMS) that both parents and students access to manage enrollment and classes. Students and parents have separate dashboards, so parents can see how their child is doing, communicate with teachers, and interact with our LMS Manager.

Our Virtual Campus uses Zoom to deliver live classes within the secure framework of the LMS.

We have many students currently or previously enrolled in CC's Challenge. The biggest difference is that our teachers are experts in their subject matter, so instruction is more straightforward and students have a much clearer understanding of what's expected and how to get it done.

Class fees are listed on each product page. There are no hidden registration or tech fees — they're included in the cost of the class.

A full-credit class involves about 120 hours of work — roughly 30 hours of live online instruction and 90 hours of homework spread over 30 weeks. Many students take six classes and find it very doable; some classes require less work.

We use Zoom for live online classes alongside our LMS. Classes generally meet weekly, with assigned and graded homework throughout the rest of the week. For a full load, students have 6–7 hours of online meetings per week, plus graded homework.

Recordings are provided for registered students who can't attend a class. That said, True North Academy is more than the delivery of content — we're a community where students and families engage through our Virtual Campus and participate in live class discussion. Self-Paced classes are different and can be viewed on your own schedule. (For Classical Memory with Claritas classes, when offered, we do not record the material specific to Claritas.)

Your course syllabus lives on our secure online campus, and every parent and student can access it, along with the course schedule, at all times. Each class differs in homework load, but students typically attend class and then have reading, assignments, videos, and projects during the week. For example, if a class meets Tuesday and Thursday, working on assignments Wednesday and Friday might be a good rhythm — due dates notwithstanding.

Classes are recorded, but they're designed to be taken live — that's where the discussion and community happen. Teachers do provide feedback and correction on written work, so students are prepared for college-level writing.

Each teacher assigns any materials needed for the coursework. If you purchase a class but not its required materials, this voids the refund policy. Most materials can be purchased on Amazon, though some classes require teacher-developed materials produced by True North Academy.

It's a unique blended learning environment — we use the award-winning CTC Math paired with a weekly live online meeting with a qualified teacher. Students get daily math practice plus a qualified math teacher, which we've found to be a fantastic combination.

Students can choose the math class that fits their level. For reviewing basic math functions, we recommend Framework Math.

Yes. We offer "bridge" and adapted classes with homework that isn't as rigorous as our mainstream high school classes but still counts for high school credit. You can mix and match to customize the very best fit for your student.

Yes. Our teachers assign and grade work, and students receive a Semester 1 Grade Report and an End-of-Year Grade Report.

It depends on your state's laws. Most states accept homeschool credits; a handful don't. We recommend visiting HSLDA for clarification in your state.

We believe standardized testing has five benefits, and we use the Performance Series Test. We offer standardized Reading, Math, and Language Arts tests for K–12.

These tests can be submitted for state testing requirements and taken more than once during the school year at no extra cost. We personally set up each test and run the results for you, so expect up to 24 hours from purchase to start-up information. Test interpretation with our administrator is available as an optional extra service.

In our experience, good placement that anticipates struggles starts with Academic Advising. We work with you to create an actionable, affordable plan for homeschool success. Enrolled students also have access to their teacher through messaging on our Virtual Campus, with messages usually answered within 24 hours during the week. Find out more about Advising here.

We understand our classes may not be the right fit for every child. We offer a full refund less 30% for the first four days after a class starts. The refund is issued as a gift card / store credit good for anything in the True North Academy Shop — including eBooks and Self-Paced classes — for up to 12 months. We accept funds from specific states. If a charter requires purchasing a "secular" class, we do offer classes that meet that criteria — but if the charter requires that we be a secular school (as in CA), we can't accept those funds.
