By the end of this year your student will have well over eleven hundred Spanish words, phrases and sentences committed to memory, and a sound accent to say them in.
Spanish 2 follows Spanish 1 and is a rigorous, year-long live online Spanish 2 class for high school. By May a student can introduce themselves, answer more complex questions about everything covered in class, and give extended biographical information both out loud and in writing.
They can use expressions that fit the cultural background of the Spanish-speaking countries, understand common spoken expressions that carry simple information, and keep a light conversation going without stalling out.
Grammar is the backbone of the year, and it is taught with the expectation that students use Spanish in class rather than merely study it. Sra. Quintanar carries the same Breaking the Spanish Barrier text forward from Spanish 1, so vocabulary and structures compound instead of resetting.
Students who came to Spanish by way of Latin, or with solid English grammar instruction behind them, tend to move quickly here.
