Class Description

Step into the past and explore the world like never before! Time Travelers: An Adventure in World History is a dynamic course that takes students on an interactive journey through the key events that shaped our world. From ancient civilizations to modern revolutions, students will engage in immersive activities and challenges that bring history to life.

TIme Travelers connects historical events to today’s world, making history relevant, exciting, and personal. Whether debating as a Greek philosopher, trading on the Silk Road, analyzing primary texts, or strategizing in a global conflict, students will develop critical thinking, research, and collaboration skills in a fun and engaging environment. This college preparatory class counts toward a required high school level history credit and is part of True North Academy's Dual Degree Program. This course is taught from a Christian worldview; however, history does represent a variety of cultures, responses, and perspectives.

Key focus areas include:

  • Develop an ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and discuss primary and secondary historical texts
  • Identify patterns of interaction between societies, including trade, conflict, cultural exchange, and globalization

  • Understand the key events, movements, and trends that have shaped world history from ancient civilizations to the contemporary era
  • Explain how historical interactions have shaped global interdependence and continue to influence current world events.

Time Travelers: An Adventure In World History leverages technology to enhance learning at every level of the SAMR model:

Substitution: Students use word processing software instead of pen and paper for drafting and editing essays, projects and other assignments.

Augmentation: Online research databases and academic search engines enhance students' ability to find and evaluate primary and secondary historical documents and sources.

Modification: Online platforms allow for peer collaboration, review, and feedback for various discussions, coursework, and projects.

Redefinition: Students view and create multimedia presentations of historical analysis and research, incorporating interactive elements that reach beyond traditional written reports.
