Description

Science Exploration A

Mondays 11:30am-12:30pm CST

We will take your young students on a fun and fascinating exploration of the world of science! Most students are curious and fascinated by the world around them and eager to question and learn. The hallmark of a true scientist is the ability to wonder about the world and God’s magnificent creation.

In this course, designed specifically for younger elementary-aged young scientists, students will learn that curiosity and wonder are excellent tools as they discover the world around them.

Science is the study of God’s Creation so let’s start with Creation Week. God is so wise. He knew in exactly what order everything needed to be created. We follow along His pattern and look at His creation. Every lesson includes multiple hands-on activities or experiments that can be used with common items found around the house.

The text and the activities are all intended to help the least scientific-minded student to realize that studying science can be fun. At the same time, students who already love science and explore its many wonders will learn and be challenged to continue the adventure they have already begun.

The teacher will encourage students in Science Exploration A to delve more deeply into science as part of their everyday lives. During and outside of class time, students can explore “hands-on” experiments, ask questions, and develop responses based on reasoning in a fun and interactive online learning environment.

This class will do the same activities and learn the same topics as the Science Exploration B class, but the lessons will be presented at a more appropriate level for younger students.

We will spend weeks on each lesson and they include:

  • Day 1: Light – Physics & Chemistry (energy, atoms, sound, light, & electricity)
  • Day 2: Separate the Waters – Earth Science & Meteorology (water, jet stream, wind, rain, snow, extreme weather, & weather’s superpowers)
  • Day 3: Earth & Plants – Earth Science & Botany (rocks & minerals, earthquakes, mountains & volcanoes, trees, grasses, flowering plants, seeds, & roots)
  • Day 4: Sun, Moon, Stars – Astronomy (sun, moon, planets, constellations,
