Description
What if your student could see America’s story the way the Founders saw it?
For too many students that story has been flattened into a timeline: dates to memorize, wars to recite, names to recall by Friday. This live online American government class for high school takes the longer road. Working from The Christian History of the Constitution, Self-Government with Union, and Guardians of Liberty, students read the Pilgrims, the Puritans, and the Founders in their own words, and trace how self-government, covenant, conscience, and constitutionalism grew out of a Christian understanding of the person.
They build historical vocabulary from the 1828 Webster’s Dictionary, keep a digital notebook, and practice respectful debate on questions that still divide the country.
Each Wednesday morning the class meets Mrs. Jeanette Whittaker on Zoom for a real conversation about real ideas. This is not a video to watch alone at midnight. It is a living classroom with a teacher who knows your student’s name and asks what they think, then asks why.
Jeanette Whittaker has supported homeschool families for over thirty years, serves in Pilgrim Institute leadership, and co-authored two history resources.
“Mrs. Jeanette Whitaker is a really good teacher. She will help you grow closer to God and help you more understand, liberty and government.”

Stephanie Wilding –
I have fallen in love with Providential history and the richness in the material available for our children to help instill a biblical worldview. Thankful that we never stop learning and that God gives us wonderful teachers and resources such as this! Stephanie Wilding, parent
Gina Noble –
The course is rich in primary sources and Scripture-centered perspective, and it gave us the tools to engage with American history and government in a meaningful, faith-integrated way.
By the time we completed it, (we used the resources from Pilgrim Institute in our own school) my high schoolers weren’t just memorizing facts—they were learning how to research, reason, relate, and record what they believed, using Scripture as their lens. If you’re looking for a class that teaches real civic understanding without separating it from biblical truth, this is the one. – Gina Glenn Steffy
