Description
Geography of World Empires
Grade Level: 9–12 | Length: 6 Weeks | Credit: 0.25 (Elective – Geography/Social Studies)
Explore the Lands that Shaped History
Step into the shoes of emperors, explorers, and mapmakers as you journey through the rise and fall of world empires—guided by geography. In this hands-on, six-week elective, students will discover how mountains, rivers, deserts, and seas influenced where empires began, how far they spread, and why they eventually fell.
From the fertile floodplains of the Nile to the vast steppes of Mongolia, students will sharpen their map-reading skills, interpret historical geography, and trace the expansion of empires across continents. Along the way, they’ll create their own maps, analyze trade routes, chart sea currents, and even examine the role of pirates in building maritime empires.
Perfect for curious minds who love maps, history, or the big-picture connections between land and power, this course blends geography, history, and visual learning in a dynamic and creative way.
Topics Include:
