Botanical Sketch and Watercolor
Botanical Sketch and Watercolor will take students on a journey through the growing zones of American native botanicals. From tropical Hawaii, the permafrost of Alaska, the everglades of Florida, and all the prairies, mountains, and desert plants in between. The drawing and watercolor class will teach sketching, shading, how to dissect and build complex shapes, color theory, glazing, and line work, all while taking students through a unique look at the bounty of native botanicals our country offers.
This class is a one-semester ½ credit class for Jr. and Sr. High. It will meet weekly at 2:15pm CST for the second semester.

Note to Parents: Art skills and styles vary widely between individuals, even at a learning age. The goal, and therefore grading, of both Art Club levels are not based on the idea that there is one singular bar that all students must reach, but rather on individual growth in skill sets and understanding in each student. The serene nature of Monet’s “Water Lilies” is not judged by the vivid motion of Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” nor by Frida Kahlo’s rich Hispanic portrait work judged against Pablo Picasso’s abstract eye.
