Description

Writing & Grammar – Narnia | A Full Year Writing and Grammar Class for Middle School and Early High School Students

Writing & Grammar – Narnia  Join us for a fun year of writing and grammar for children in grades 6-9.

Students will take a behind-the-scenes look at the magical world of Narnia. Using the first three novels of The Chronicles of Narnia® (The Magician’s Nephew, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and The Horse and His Boy).

This class will woo students into the enchanted land of Narnia through the Structure and Style® writing method.

This Student Book gives reading assignments from novels, source texts on related topics, checklists, assignments, word lists, and more!

How the Class Time is Structured

Our class time will be devoted to reading each week’s reading passage and then working together to implement specific writing styles.

As we learn how to better our writing, each student will be responsible for writing one piece every week based on the content and style learned in class.

At the end of each unit, students will present one piece from that unit to share with their classmates. We will learn how to best critique each other’s work positively and how to improve our writing by working together.

Class Components

Elementary Writing & Grammar – Narnia will include English grammar instruction. This will be an important part of this class, and students will solidify their understanding and usage of parts of speech, types of sentences, and much more!

Elementary Writing  & Grammar – Narnia is a full-year course that is best for students in 6th-9th grade.

The text includes vocabulary cards, literature suggestions, and access to helpful PDF downloads.

Required Text:

Following Narnia the Lion’s Song vol. I

We will also read The Magician’s Nephew, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and The Horse and his boy by CS Lewis.  The student needs to have an unabridged copy of each.

  1. Carson

BEST CLASS EVER!!! I learned so much and made a lot of friends. The best part is I learned IEW while I read Narnia. I had a great time!

  2. Levi K. – Narnia student

This class was cool. My favorite part about class was playing games, like
Kahoot and MadLibs. The games were a fun highlight to class time, and they
helped to make me think. I learned how to get better with my writing. My mom
thought I needed to improve my writing skills, so she signed me up for this
class. In this class, I wrote and typed many paragraphs and even some short
essays. I especially liked hearing Bible verses. It was very of stressful to write
and type paragraphs on such a short timeframe. I preferred the weeks where I
could have smaller chunks of the larger assignments, versus having to write a
full five paragraph essay all in one week. I feel that my writing is better than it
was at the beginning of the class.

  3. Luke K. – Narnia student

My favorite part of this class was completing the homework
assignments. When I was finished with my homework, I did not have to
stress about it anymore. In this class, I learned how to speak about my
writing and type faster, while using better grammar in my writing. I also
learned how to expand on the basics of my writing. This class helped me
to grow as a student by learning and practicing the basics of writing. I was
glad to have the chance to do this class. –

  4. – Even W. – Narnia student

My favorite part of the book is when they fought the battle of the White Witch. I learned a lot of stuff. I learned a lot of history. Now I can write better in school.
