Description

Biblical Hebrew 1

Biblical Hebrew I introduces the student to the basics of the ancient Hebrew language.  Students will learn how to read Hebrew letters and vowels and proceed from there to grammar and vocabulary. This course will be the beginning of the student’s journey leading to an in-depth study of the Bible.

Hebrew is the language of the Bible, the foundation of the Judeo-Christian faith. The cultural and religious influence of the Bible is incalculable.  Understanding the language in which it was written is not only a literary achievement but will also bring rich depth and understanding to one’s faith and how we respond to a rapidly changing world. While the Bible can often seem complex and at times, perhaps even contradictory, learning the original language will bring understanding. Furthermore, understanding the language of the Old Testament will clarify the New Testament, unlocking cultural significance and meaning. Learning Modern Hebrew is the simplest way into the Bible. Biblical Hebrew I is the beginning of that exciting introduction to the language of the Bible.
