Whether you’re planning a celebration or fundraiser, this class will help give you the skills to plan a smashing event! Each week students will plan and present a different type of event including birthdays, fundraisers, Friends-giving, and more. Your student will be able to use these skills for years to come, for personal use, ministry, non-profit work, and beyond.
Event planning brings a great combination of many skills together: creativity, money management, research, writing/presentation, time management, people management, and teamwork! This course will be taught virtually. The teacher will assess the “success” of each planned event using a provided rubric.
Throughout this course, students will learn real-life skills to help them plan events in the future. Not only will they get to stretch their own creativity, but they will get to see real events as examples! Students will learn how to stick with a theme, follow parameters like a budget, coordinate volunteers & vendors, how to create timelines, and be realistic in their plans.
Topics to include:
-Types of Events
-Budget
-Volunteers/Vendors
-Vision Boards & Event Proposals
-Timelines
-Things to Consider
Works:
Students will not need to purchase any external resources for the class. Students will need a computer, and a way to present their planned event: Pinterest, Padlet, PP, and Canva are all great free options. Physical posters are welcome, but students will need to take pictures to upload for viewing.
Each week, students will upload a video presenting their event plans.
Pair this course with Entrepreneurship I, Entrepreneurship II, Personal Finance, or Biz Talk
Semester Completion Policy
All self-paced courses must be completed within the semester in which the student is enrolled. While students may work through the material at their own pace, access does not extend beyond the active semester. This policy helps students stay on track, maintain academic momentum, and ensures coursework aligns properly with transcript and credit requirements. We encourage families to plan ahead and schedule consistent time each week for successful completion.
