Description

Start with the globe of the human eye. Finish with the muscle and vasculature of the human heart.

That is the arc of this live online anatomy drawing class for high school, and it is why the course rewards students who like both art and biology. BJ Pramann teaches drawing and watercolor through human anatomy and body dynamics: how to take basic shapes and build them up into the far more complex ones that make up the body.

The painting side begins just as simply, with color theory and how the eye actually sees color, then moves into layers, blending, and glazing until students are producing dynamic models rather than flat studies.

Fifteen weeks, one semester, with Mr. Pramann critiquing work as it develops, which is the part a self-paced art course cannot give a student. Skills covered include shading, perspective, anatomical drawing, shape dissection, blending, and color theory.

It pairs naturally with Biology or Anatomy and Physiology for a student who is starting to think about medicine or scientific illustration.

BJ Pramann is a self-taught artist and live-event speed painter who has taught art to homeschool students for over eight years.

“Loved this class! Teacher was very nice. I learned how to add transitions, how to mask, and a lot of other stuff!”
