Required Resource for True North Academy ASL 3
Advanced ASL students benefit from deeper interaction with the Deaf community. Through our partnership with SignOn Connect, ASL 3 students participate in live mentoring sessions with Deaf ASL Ambassadors who provide professional feedback and encouragement.
This required resource includes two mentoring and assessment sessions during the academic year—one at the end of fall semester and one at the end of spring semester.
These sessions give students the opportunity to demonstrate advanced signing skills and continue refining their communication abilities.
What Students Receive
• Two live mentoring sessions with Deaf ASL Ambassadors

• Detailed feedback on ASL proficiency
• Real-world signing interaction with native ASL users
Assessment Areas
Students will be evaluated on the following:
• Sign Production, Quality, and Clarity
• Facial Expressions
• ASL Structure
• Vocabulary Knowledge
• Comfort Level / Nervousness While Signing
• Additional comments to guide continued improvement
These mentoring sessions help students move toward greater fluency, confidence, and cultural awareness within the Deaf community.
