What Is an Education Savings Account?

An ESA is money your state sets aside for your child's education, which you direct to the learning that fits your family. Each state runs its program a little differently, but in most programs the funds can cover:

  • Live online classes
  • Self-paced online courses
  • Full course loads and core programs
  • Curriculum and course materials
  • Tutoring and academic support

For homeschooling families, that changes the math. A full year of live, small-group classes with qualified teachers, the kind of education that used to be out of reach for many, can now be covered in part or in full.

At True North Academy, we believe education passes on a culture of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. Your state's funds can help you give your student exactly that.

Live, Real TeachersSmall classes where your student is known by name, not lost in a video library.
Accredited and Transcript-ReadyCognia accreditation means the credits your student earns carry weight.
Families FirstOur team walks you through your state's process so the funds never become a headache.

Federal Tax Credit Scholarships

Coming 2027

Beginning January 1, 2027, a new federal program lets donors give to approved Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs), which then award scholarships to K–12 students in participating states. Families with household incomes below 300% of their area's median income may qualify, and scholarships are expected to be available for the 2027–28 school year.

We plan to accept these scholarships as SGOs in each state open their programs. Email TNHAStaff@gmail.com with the subject "Federal scholarship list" and we'll keep you posted as details are finalized.

Paying Out of Pocket? Payment Plans Are Available

Families paying on their own can spread tuition across monthly payments.

How Payment Plans Work

  • Choose the payment plan option at checkout.
  • Your tuition is split into scheduled payments.
  • One additional payment at the end of the plan covers processing fees and plan management.

Using ESA or Scholarship Funds?

ESA, ClassWallet, Odyssey, TheoPay and scholarship funds can't be used with a payment plan. Programs pay for classes in full, so choose the full-payment option when you check out through your program.
