Advance Payment

Families whose income is at or below 300% of the federal poverty level can receive the credit as a one-time upfront payment. It can only be spent on qualifying expenses, so keep every receipt.

Good to Know for Idaho Families

  • Your student's full-year program must include, at a minimum, English language arts, math, science and social studies. Those subjects can come from True North and other providers combined.
  • Parent and student must be full-year Idaho residents, and the student must be claimed as a dependent on the parent's Idaho return.
  • You'll need a TAP account with the Idaho State Tax Commission to apply.
  • Funding is capped each year, and priority goes to families at or below 300% of the federal poverty level, so apply as soon as the window opens.
  • Keep every receipt. Each one should show the provider, the expense, the amount and the date paid.
