About Amy

Amy’s love of language was born in a high school hallway. When she befriended Deaf classmates and began taking courses alongside ASL interpreters, a door opened that has never closed. She went on to study ASL in college, served for years as a church and school interpreter, and taught the language online and in person to students of every age — and along the way she was given a gift that made it all personal: a Deaf granddaughter.

For more than thirty years, Amy has been a passionate advocate for families and for school choice. She has taught French, Spanish, ASL, and Special Education across Christian schools, public schools, homeschool support programs, and online classrooms — all while homeschooling her own daughters. She knows what it is to sit on both sides of the kitchen table, and she brings that whole heart to every class she teaches.

Experience & Credentials

Amy holds a BA in Secondary Education with endorsements in French and Spanish and an MA in Special Education, backed by more than thirty years in the classroom. In her ASL classes she is careful to teach not just the signs but the how and the why — connecting new language to what students already know, rooting it in Scripture, and creating natural, low-pressure moments to practice. Her goal is for every student to leave both understanding the language and honoring the culture and community behind it.
