About Dr. Moon
Dr. Kristin Moon believes no one truly hates science — when someone says they do not like it, it is usually because it has not been made clear. Her goal is to teach science in ways that are fun, memorable, and easy to understand, and her passion for it is contagious.
A homeschooling veteran, Kristin taught her two sons from preschool through high school graduation; her oldest graduated magna cum laude in Electrical Engineering and her younger son is finishing a Biology degree. A native Floridian now living in Northern Kentucky, she loves fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, reading, and hunting for vintage finds.
Nothing makes her happier than hearing a student say, “I never knew science could be so much fun!”
Experience & Credentials
Kristin earned a B.S. in Microbiology and a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Florida. As a doctoral student she studied viral virulence factors, and after her Ph.D. she worked on a gene-therapy system for macular degeneration before leaving the lab to raise and teach her children.
She has been a full-time educator for more than 20 years — homeschooling her own sons and teaching hundreds of students in co-ops, science clubs, and live lab intensives. She is also the creator of the Kristin Moon Science curriculum.
