About Melissa
Melissa and her family live in Berks County, Pennsylvania, where they have been homeschooling for 13 years — an adventure that includes hobby homesteading and holistic living. She is married with three children, from teens to young adults.
When she is not teaching, you will find her reading, hiking, or playing music with her band. That same creativity carries into her classroom, where science becomes something to explore rather than simply memorize.
Experience & Credentials
Melissa is a graduate of the University of Valley Forge with a Bachelor of Education, and her postgraduate work specialized in Environmental Science. She has been a vocal instructor for more than 20 years, with a teaching approach rooted in the anatomy of the voice.
She joined True North Academy in early 2019 and now serves as STEAM Department Chair, teaching Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, and more. Her professional interests range widely — from Environmental Law and Geopolitics, to Music and Art Therapy in the treatment of disease, to Astrophysics.
