Writing Skills 5: Modern World is designed for 5th through 8th graders. 

Offering a full year of instruction for students in grades 6–8, these lessons cover all nine IEW Units, teaching your students writing structure, stylistic techniques, vocabulary, and more!

The world is at your fingertips! This theme-based writing curriculum allows students to experience world history through cultural literature and the study of famous people and events while learning to write with confidence and ease.

The world is at your fingertips! Writing 5: Modern World History is a theme-based writing curriculum that allows students to experience world history through cultural literature and the study of famous people and events while learning to write with confidence and ease. Students will read fun and fascinating time-honored stories that teach, delight, and entertain.

Offering a full year of instruction for students in grades 6–8,covers all nine IEW Units, teaching your students writing structure, stylistic techniques, vocabulary, and more!

Our class time will be devoted to reading and discussing each week’s source text and working together to implement specific writing styles. Students will work on the composition assignment during the week to submit for grading. Writing 5 will include some English grammar instruction as part of the writing curriculum. Students will solidify their understanding and usage of parts of speech, types of sentences, punctuation and much more!

This full-year course is best for 5th to 8th-grade students who have mastered writing simple sentences independently.  Writing 5 is a fun and inspiring class that will give your students the skills they need for future writing success!
