Writing 5: Modern World History is a theme-based writing curriculum that allows students to experience world history through cultural literature and the study of famous people and events while learning to write with confidence and ease. Students will read fun and fascinating time-honored stories that teach, delight, and entertain.
Offering a full year of instruction for students in 6th through 8th grade, Writing 5 covers all nine IEW Units, teaching your students writing structure, stylistic techniques, vocabulary, and more: taking notes, retelling narrative stories, summarizing references, writing from pictures, and composing essays. Writing 5 is a fun and inspiring class that will give your students the skills they need for future writing success!
Our class time will be devoted to reading and discussing each week’s source text and working together to implement specific writing styles. Students will work on the composition assignment during the week to submit for grading. Writing 5 will include some English grammar instruction as part of the writing curriculum. Students will solidify their understanding and usage of parts of speech, types of sentences, punctuation, and much more!
Please note: This is a writing class and is not meant to replace the history curriculum!
