In Writing 4: US History, we will read and write about the main events from our country’s history from early explorers to the American Revolution to Westward Expansion and much more!

Writing 4 is a full-year course suggested for students in 4th-8th grade who have mastered writing simple sentences independently. This is an exciting and inspiring class that will give your students the skills they need for future writing success!
In Writing 4: US History, we will read and write about the main events from our country’s history from early explorers to the American Revolution to Westward Expansion and much more!
We will explore prominent people who were a part of this nation’s founding. IEW Units focuses on helping students learn to take notes, retell narrative stories, summarize references, write from pictures, and compose essays. Writing 4 will include some English grammar instruction as part of the writing curriculum. Students will solidify their understanding and usage of parts of speech, types of sentences, punctuation and more! Please note: This is a writing class and not meant to replace history curriculum!
Class time will be devoted to reading and discussing each week’s source text and working together to implement specific writing styles. Students will work on a composition assignment during each week to submit for grading.
Required Text: U.S History-Based Writing Lessons (Student Book Only)
Writing 4 would be a great match with Geography or US History!
