Description

Literary Discussion

Literary Discussion will take a deep dive in to George Orwell’s groundbreaking work, 1984.

Each week students will read a portion of the book, and help facilitate discussion of characterization, themes, archetypes and more. Though there will not be any written assignments or assessments, students will be expected to come prepared with questions/topics, and ready to participate, for each class discussion. This Book Study will deep dive into basic literary analysis. This book deals with controversial topics such as:

  • Totalitarianism and Communism
  • The Individual vs Collective Identity
  • Reality Control
  • Sex, Love, and Loyalty
  • Class Struggle.

Mature themes will be discussed and explored. If parents have not read 1984, they are encouraged to preview or read it themselves, so that they are fully aware of issues that will be presented in class.

Pair Career Exploration Bootcamp with Poetry Essentials, Math Skills for Chemistry or Latin Bootcamp I for a robust 6 weeks of learning!
