Life Skills 101 is a one semester online, live class that will get your teens primed and ready for the next phase of life. This class meets weekly.

This class is offered as a full-year course or students may join it for just a semester.

The sections of the full-year course are centered on three broad topics: Making the most of your life, transitions, and preparing for your first job. Students will interact with the teacher and other students online to complete these life skills units.

Units include:

  • Finding & Creating A Healthy Life Balance
  • Organizing Your Life
  • Can You Afford to Leave Home?
  • Budgeting & Money Management
  • The Interview
  • Resume
  • The Workplace Experience

Each section will include short videos, worksheets, and discussions to get your teen thinking about what it will take to live and thrive as a young adult.

Life Skills: Adulting with Confidence will include a moderate to a high level of coursework outside of class in preparation for quality discussion, with the ultimate result being:

  • A completed resume & cover letter, mock job interview experience.
  • sample budget & meal plan,
  • move out budget & checklist,
  • A deeper understanding of time management and how to prioritize for the best possible outcomes when life gets overwhelming.

The Full Year Course – 1 Credit: Your True North Homeschool Academy teacher will teach and grade the class. The coursework your child will complete in this high school level course is equal to one credit hour, which may be awarded by your homeschool upon completion of the course. If you want help determining your students’ credits or creating a transcript, check out our Academic Advising.

The one-semester class can be awarded 1/2 credit based on the completed coursework.
