Description
High School Spelling and Grammar 2
This class is a continuation to Level 1.
Knowing how to spell and use grammar well are the best Life Tools! While many may think spelling and grammar are for elementary students, more employers are using grammar and spelling to gauge how well potential employees will succeed. In the article, “I Won’t Hire People Who Use Poor Grammar,” Kyle Wiens the CEO of iFixit, an online repair company, says that people who use poor grammar “deserved to be passed over for a job.” Knowing how to spell and use grammar correctly is relevant to everyone.
The class uses the curriculum Spell to Write to Read as the guide and it is based on the Writing Road to Reading, a program developed by teacher Romalda Spalding and Dr. Samuel Orton, a neurologist who worked with dyslexic children in the 1920s. Using phonics and spelling rules, students learn to decode any word. Learning word etymology helps students practice spelling strategies and spot letter combinations.
Spelling and Grammar 2 continues to empower kids to communicate clearly, effectively, and articulately. All of this will give your student credibility for writing and speaking.
Grammar, punctuation, and usage guidelines are cultivated and perfected in this level 2 class. With class activities, this unconventional approach to grammar and spelling strives to motivate students to comprehend the content easily. We will work toward this goal through games, interactive puzzles, quizzes, and tests.
- Repetition of the phonograms allows students to master spelling.
