In Expedition: Africa, students will join explorers traveling deep into the heart of Africa.
They will learn about the significance of the Nile River as they travel toward its headwaters while taking a closer look at wildlife along its shores. They will learn about the impact of colonialism and how some native tribes are working to maintain their identity while also modernizing.
They will learn about the rich natural resources in Africa and how communities are working together to preserve them while also benefiting the local people. And of course, students will go on a virtual African safari to enjoy the rich diversity of life in the African savannah.
Students will make two presentations during class.
These are on self-selected topics so that students have an opportunity to explore something we did not discuss in class or to dive deeper into a topic they want to know more about.
