Computer Illustration

Computer Illustration with Adobe Illustrator will equip students to create Illustrations and graphics that appear almost everywhere. They are used in print media as well as all over the web. Modern vector graphics software is used frequently to create these illustrations on computers. They also have many tools to automate techniques which take artists hours to implement and even more to master. Students who learn to use these programs will add beauty and professional finishes to their schoolwork, presentations, and even their personal online presence. This class not just for graphic artists, but any student wishing to improve their resume is a great candidate for this course.

Students will learn all the skills needed to create a variety of illustrations, graphics, and artistic projects using their computers. They will learn the difference between vector illustrations and other kinds of computer illustrations. The instructor, a long time professional graphic artist, will help students to seamlessly blend the world of computers with the world of art. The class will take a step-by-step approach to exploring the computer software. Projects will be designed and executed with guidance while allowing and encouraging individual artistic creative expression.

In Computer Illustration students will learn to use the elements of art to create meaningful projects. They’ll look at forming different types of compositions, explore color theory, and study how to use shapes, lines, and even empty space to communicate messages of value and importance.

Compute Illustration does not need to be intimidating to non-artistic students. The beauty of computer illustration software like Adobe Illustrator is that even a non-artist can create beautiful and meaning works that communicate messages well.

Students will learn about:

  • Creating Dynamic Vector Illustrations
  • Creating Graphics for Print or Digital Sharing
  • Creating Artistic Text
  • Designing Infographics for Presentations

This course is a half credit, spring semester course for high school students.
