American Sign Language 3
American Sign Language 3 (ASL3) is the third level in the ASL series from True North Homeschool Academy.
In ASL 1 & 2, students learned vocabulary, grammar, Deaf history, Deaf culture and the use of classifiers. Building on this knowledge gained, in ASL 1 & 2, ASL 3 students will embark upon a journey of storytelling in ASL.
ASL 3 will draw all those skills together for them to now work on modeling ASL Literature (ABC stories, jokes, and other stories).
This experience will propel them into ASL 4 where they will have the confidence to tell their own stories in ASL Grammar. In addition to this, ASL 3 students will expand their knowledge of ASL vocabulary, linguistics, grammar, Deaf culture, and Deaf history.
Our curriculum was recognized as being one of the “Best Homeschool Products & Curriculum of 2023-24,” by How to Homeschool. ASL Deafined has a fully deaf created video dictionary with over 18,000 words.
The lessons are carefully designed to aid in retention of the content. This curriculum is required and a discounted subscription is available through True North. Also required is the ASL homeroom. It is in this time period that students will be able to interact with a Deaf signer provided by ASL Deafined! This is an amazing opportunity for students! Lastly, the student is required to have a free account on Flip. This is where all video assignments will be turned in.
Prerequisites: ASL 1 and ASL 2
