Adapted Consumer Math
Adapted Consumer Math is designed to help students improve math skills need to be successful in today’s society as an intelligent consumer. Adapted Consumer Math provides 100% supported learning for struggling learners and special needs students. Students will practice real-world skills in numbers & operations, algebra concepts, geometry, measurements, data and probability. The skills and concepts will be taught with real world applications such as health, fitness, insurance, interest, unit pricing, discounts, banking, budgeting, investments, taxes, and travel.
This course is designed to create a stress-free approach to academic learning. Homework assignments will be brief and solely designed to support the learning in class. Homework will be corrected together with the educator with an emphasis on growth, not grades. There will be no tests, no essays, and no memorization required, but instead the occasional verbal evaluation with the educator.
Your learner will benefit from a seasoned special needs homeschool educator who will partner with you to provide support in any areas of concern. The course is also appropriate for middle school students who can attend reasonably well in class.
Required Materials:
- The teacher will provide all necessary assignments.
- Composition Notebook or electronic document file for vocabulary
The course work for this class is equivalent to 1 credit to be awarded by your homeschool.
Full Year Course – 1 Credit: The class will be taught and graded by your True North Homeschool Academy teacher. The coursework your child will complete in this high school level course is equal to one credit hour which may be awarded by your homeschool upon completion of the course. This course can not be used in the Sr. High Three or Six Course Bundle but can be used for the Adapted Bundle.
